Central Library of Barasat Government College plays a pivotal role in the teaching-learning process of the College. It is a pillar of all academic activities of UG & PG courses and research activities. The Library has a rich collection of around 87,508 books, old and rare books, valuable reference books, journals, educational CDs/DVDs and innumerable e-books, e-journals, and other resources for the use of the students, faculty members and State Aided College Teachers of various departments, Research Scholars, Staff members. At present, near about 87,508 books are accessioned in the library. Now library services are maintained by library management software, Koha and the database is accessible remotely through Web OPAC (online Public Access Catalogue). In addition to that the library has subscribed to the NList programme of INFLIBNET where all the library users can remotely access a large number of e-journals and e-books from different publishers. It has an excellent reading room facility.
